Peace in the Panic: How God Carried Us Through a Stroke
Have you ever felt alone in a situation—like God has hit the mute button on your life and isn’t paying attention to what you’re going through or what you’re asking of Him? If we’re being honest, most of us would have to admit that we’ve felt that way at some point during difficult times.

Jehovah’s Witnesses False Teachings (Part 2)
Some may ignorantly assume that Jehovah’s Witnesses (JWs) are just another Christian denomination. However, nothing could be further from the truth. JWs deny every key Christian doctrine related to Jesus, salvation, the authority of the Bible, and more. It is crucial for Christians to understand what they believe in order to effectively witness to them.

God with Us: Why Jesus Never Ceased to Be God
The Word Became Flesh—Not Less Than God
Recently, I was having a conversation with some ladies when it came up that I’m not a fan of a certain popular teacher. One of them asked me why, and we talked through some of the concerning doctrines this teacher has promoted—particularly one claim that stood out: that Jesus stopped being God when He became man. I’m not going to share the exact quote, because the point of this article is not to name names or stir controversy. It’s to gently and firmly shepherd God’s people away from a serious theological error. The focus here is on the teaching, not the teacher.
So let’s ask the question plainly: Did Jesus stop being God when He became man? And more importantly, what does Scripture say?

The Day I Saw Real Joy
If someone watched your life for a week, would they know you're a Christian—without you saying a word?
Back in 1989, I was a 21-year-old lost young woman. Having lived a very ungodly life as a teen model and actress in Japan, I was desperate for change—desperate to find something that would lift me out of the cycle of sin I was in, and the darkness that surrounded me.

God in the Workplace: Honoring Christ Through Our Work
Work is a fundamental part of human life, woven into the fabric of our daily existence. Whether we’re clocking into a 9-to-5 job, running a business, managing a household, or studying as a full-time student, work shapes much of our time and identity. In Ephesians 6:5-9, the Apostle Paul offers timeless guidance on how Christians should approach work, emphasizing that our labor is not just a means to a paycheck but an opportunity to honor God.

Raising Children with God’s Wisdom: A Reflection on Ephesians 6:4
Parenting is one of life’s most profound responsibilities, and Scripture offers timeless guidance for navigating its challenges. In Ephesians 6:4, Paul provides a concise yet powerful directive for parents: “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

God’s Wisdom for Children: Obedience and Honor in the Parent-Child Relationship
In a world overflowing with parenting advice—over 80,000 books on Amazon, countless podcasts, blogs, and articles—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Each resource offers its own take on the “ultimate goal” of parenting, from fostering self-esteem to balancing discipline and play. Yet, amidst this noise, the Bible provides clear, timeless guidance. Ephesians 6:1-3 speaks directly to children, calling them to obey and honor their parents, a command rooted in God’s design for flourishing relationships.

How to Kill a Church: Lessons from Ephesians 6
The title “How to Kill a Church” may sound alarming, but it serves as a sobering reminder of the subtle ways a church can lose its vitality. Drawing from Ephesians 6:21-24 and Revelation 2:1-7, we uncover three critical missteps that can lead to a church’s demise: failing to prize others, neglecting to protect truth, and abandoning love for Jesus.

Songs Matter: Doctrinal Discernment in Congregation Singing (Part Two)
In this article, we are going to look at the New Testament’s instructions for us in the realm of congregational singing. If God himself sets the standard, then what is it? We live in an age where there is a very wide range of singing that happens in the church on any given Sunday morning. On one hand, this is great! We
should be very thankful for the many people that are writing songs for the church. On the other hand, this can be concerning.

Lord’s Supper
At Northwest Baptist Church, we believe the Lord’s Supper is more than a memorial. It is not just something we do to remember Christ—it is a sacred act where we gather as one body to proclaim His death, to be strengthened by His grace, and to look forward to His return.

In Later Times Some Will Depart: Lessons from 1 Timothy 4:1-5
In a world swirling with competing voices and ideas, how do we discern truth from deception? The Apostle Paul’s words in 1 Timothy 4:1-5 offer timeless wisdom for navigating this challenge. Writing to his young protégé Timothy, Paul addresses the reality of false teaching within the church and equips believers to stand firm. His message is as relevant today as it was in the first century, reminding us that truth is worth defending—and that deception often comes with a sinister source.

Examining Jehovah’s Witnesses (Part 1) The Founders and History
If you’ve ever talked to a Jehovah’s Witness at your front door, you may have wondered: Where did this all begin? Their beliefs sound so different from historic Christianity—and they are indeed heretically different.

Infertility: Caring for Longing Couples
Infertility represents a unique manifestation of creation's fallenness, a painful tension between divine command and physical limitation. Through biblical examples, practical ministry guidance, and the redemptive hope that sustains us, we can extend grace in this season of profound disappointment.

Death and Resurrection: The Christian's Certain Hope
In 1789, Benjamin Franklin famously wrote, "In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes." And for many, that sentiment rings true. You’re born, you pay taxes, and then you die. But how depressing is that? If those are the only certainties in life, what hope is there?
This is precisely why the resurrection of Jesus Christ matters. Because of Christ, there is more certainty than death and taxes. For the Christian, the hope is death and resurrection. That is our reality.

Spotting False Teachers: A Call to Discernment
Imagine standing at the edge of the Devil’s Pool in Zimbabwe, a natural infinity pool perched atop Victoria Falls. Thrill-seekers swim to the brink of a 300-foot drop, trusting a rock barrier and tour guides to keep them safe. No one’s died there yet, they say—but would you risk being the first? False teaching in the church is eerily similar: it promises excitement or safety, yet flirts with disaster. In 1 Timothy 1:8-11, Paul warns Timothy—and us—about this danger, urging discernment to spot false teachers before they lead us astray.

The Question That Demands Surrender
In Luke 20:1-8, Jesus faces a direct challenge from the religious leaders. After He cleanses the temple and teaches with authority, they ask, “By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority?” Instead of answering them directly, Jesus turns the question back on them: “Was the baptism of John from heaven or from men?” (Luke 20:4). This question exposes their refusal to recognize Jesus' divine authority—and it invites us to ask the same question: Who has authority in our lives?

WE NEED STRONG MEN WHO REPENT
Repentance. A word that makes people uncomfortable. A word that has become almost unwelcome in many churches today. But repentance is not optional—it is essential. From the beginning of Scripture to the end, God commands His people to repent. And as men, we are called to lead the way in repentance, both in our homes and in our churches. If we desire strong families and strong churches, it begins with us. It begins with our willingness to humble ourselves before God, confess our sins, and turn back to Him.

On Building Cathedrals
There is an ancient story of three stonemasons that has evergreen relevance for cultivating a virtue of work even today. The author is unknown and the details vary from one retelling to another but it goes something like this:

Holiness and the Fear of God
Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)
This verse is a clear and direct call to pursue holiness with a dire consequence if not followed. The word strive means to pursue, to chase after, to actively engage in something with intent and purpose. But what does it truly mean to pursue holiness?

Gender Roles Pt 3 Womanhood
In a world that constantly redefines gender roles and expectations, the biblical model of womanhood remains timeless and relevant. Titus 2:3-5 offers a clear and profound guide for women in the faith, outlining their roles and responsibilities in a way that honors God and strengthens the church and family. Understanding and applying these principles in today’s culture is crucial for Christian women seeking to live godly lives.
