God Is the Determiner of What Is Right

More than ever, I have seen within my own circle of friends how many are driven by what the world has to say about truth. Their thinking is often shaped by their own thoughts, feelings, and emotions rather than by the Word of God. Apart from Christ, mankind is given over to the flesh and to a futile mind.

I find myself reflecting on this one idea: if God defines what is right and wrong, why do we feel the need to look elsewhere?

When I see friends hear the truth, hear God’s law, and hear what Scripture plainly says, they listen, yet their hearts remain hardened. Is this you? Are you listening but being driven and tossed by every wind of doctrine? Do you know the truth, yet choose to reject it?

May this not be so. None of us naturally submit ourselves to God’s authority. Our hearts are inclined toward sin, and apart from the work of the Holy Spirit, we will continue to suppress the truth. But God, being rich in mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save sinners. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Christ has accomplished what we never could. When God graciously opens our eyes to the truth, He not only forgives us but also gives us new hearts that desire to obey Him.

May you hear the Word of God and obey it. Why? Because God alone is the determiner of what is right and wrong. He examines the heart, and His wrath remains upon those who refuse to obey His Word. Yet for those who belong to Christ, there is great comfort. Dear saint, be encouraged: you are not forsaken. Obedience to God is not burdensome but fruitful, bringing blessing and joy to those who walk in His ways!

Let us submit ourselves to the authority of Scripture, trusting that God’s ways are higher than our own and that His commands are given for His glory and our good!
